The Fiesta That Didn't Happen
Alright, I almost never published these images. This event occurred way back in October, 2020 in place of the well renown Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Damn pandemic… While it was neat that balloons still flew, we all know that it was nothing close to the usual spectacle.
I felt that I had difficulty coming up with these photos. Self-inspiration was lacking after being cooped up in my home. Furthermore, pilots were split between the Balloon Fiesta Field and a club field out in Rio Rancho meaning that the total number of balloons at one location was far less than I would have liked. I never liked the club field in Rio Rancho: it’s an ugly dirt field with commercial buildings all around it. The Balloon Fiesta field was challenging to photograph at as well because the balloons were too far spread out across the vast field.
After the last day of the Balloon “Siesta”, I just could not be bothered to look at the photos. I wasn’t satisfied with the event despite it being as good as it can get during a pandemic. So, about four months later, here they are.
